Hello!
I am Godzil (or Gozilu) also known as Manoel.
I'm the main (and currently only) member of 986-Studio, which allow me to put all of my serious projects (ok some are less serious) and to speak about electronic and computer things.
I'm one of the few people that still works on the WonderSwan to document and make it working in modern environment, I make (useless) electronics devices, have a lots of project for the Oric computers, and tons of project to work on in general. My main work is software developer in the embedded market, I really enjoy working on the verge between hardware and software, and most of my knowledge on the hardware side was self thought (I still have a background in electronic from my diplomas)
I'm also occasionally a game developer.
I hope you will enjoy my blog,
Cheers!
Chema, a spanish developer, and one of the last game developer for the Oric, have just release his latest game: Oricium
It’s a shoot-em-up game with horizontal scrolling. The rendering on a real Oric is just unbelievable, especially knowing the computer graphics limitation.
Here is the great new, I was finally be able to correctly and cleanly dump a WonderWitch (without any hardware modification)! As you may know there is no known dump of the WonderWitchon internet, at least none I’me aware of. Anyway no emulator are really able to correctly support the WonderWitch. The only one that is “near” is oswan173, but there is no way to use it after as there is no serial port emulation, and I suspect that it does not correctly emulate the SRAM part as the WonderWitch use much more SRAM than standard game.
Also, don’t ask, I will not provide the dump for obvious copyright reasons.
But why I speak about this? Because the WonderWitch will allow me (and you also) to know more about the WonderSwan.
As it is really needed for my project, I’m searching for a Korg Triton Extreme (a 61 key is a really nice one) if anyone have one to donate, it will be really appreciated 😉
No joking, I’m still searching for Swan part ! Don’t hesitate to donate! See my Swan-a-ton article. (But a Korg Triton Extreme would still be nice anyway !)
Also, I’m not Dave Jones of eevblog, but I also like electronic stuff, if you have anything unwanted you can send it to me, just ask for my postal address ^^
Few month ago, I’ve discovered the marvelous world of MOOC and was looking for a fun course to take. Finally I found one on EdX: UT.6.01x Embedded Systems – Shape the World brought to us by the professor Jonathan Valvano and professor Ramesh Yerraballi.
Not that I really need to take such a course on embedded system as it is both my hobby and my job, but I always like to learn new things, and this could be fun. And it was 🙂
After my previous post on Arduino an AY-3-3910 / YM2149 a lots of people complain that I didn’t deliver the code for the playing with a YM/AY chip with an Arduino, WITHOUT using any external hardware especially not a quartz 🙂
I know that lots of people complain the first time that I didn’t deliver the code for the playing with a YM/AY chip with an Arduino, WITHOUT using any external hardware especially not a quartz 🙂
I told at the time that I won’t deliver until I made a YM player.
As I am working on the Replic’Oric project, the second step (and what will become the StratoCumulus) become clearer and clearer and the most important changes is the add for a “recolouring” overlay mechanism.
This blog entry is the first documentation on what will become this new display mode. Both The “New Oric” and the StratoCumulus will provide it.
